Terri: I was born with a hearing impairment that actually, because I have so many brothers and sisters who did the talking for me, it wasn't discovered until I was six years old. I went to college, I got my degree, and I've worked in accounting. And I've also worked as a business consultant helping physicians set up their businesses. And that's what I was doing when I became extremely disabled, was unable to walk or talk for three years. So I went through physical rehabilitation, therapy, learned how to speak again, And I wanted to go back to work as soon as I was released from the released from the rehabilitation hospital, but it's really hard when you can't fill in those gaps on your resume. And we were one step away from being completely homeless. And then I got my Ticket to Work in the mail. And that changed everything. actually set up interviews for me because they said I was an excellent candidate for going to work because I wanted to so much. I've now been working for six years, and it feels like things couldn't be better. It feels like I'm a success again. I mean something, I have value, I have worth, and even maybe more importantly because of what I do. I help other people so they can do the same things I did.
