Attend Social Security's Ticket to Work Virtual Job Fair - from Anywhere

Mar 3, 2016

You’re invited to participate in Social Security’s Ticket to Work Virtual Job Fair! Taking place on March 16, 2016, the job fair will connect Social Security disability beneficiaries to companies that do business with the government.   These companies have job openings for people with many different skills and experience levels, and they are particularly interested in hiring qualified people with disabilities.

The participating employers will have job openings in one or more of the following locations: New Jersey; New York; Pennsylvania; Washington, DC; Delaware; Maryland; Virginia; West Virginia; and Puerto Rico.

The fair will be held online, from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. ET.

At the event, you will be able to talk with job recruiters online via chat forums and one-on-one messages.   At virtual resource booths, you’ll also be able to ask questions about job accommodations, Work Incentives and legal issues that sometimes create barriers to employment for people with disabilities.

If you use assistive technology, the Virtual Job Fair environment will be screen-reader friendly.

To participate in the Virtual Job Fair, you must:

To register, talk to your EN or state VR agency. Your EN or VR can help you:

  • Register for the Virtual Job Fair and complete needed paperwork;
  • Review the available jobs and help you identify ones that you are qualified for,  based on your knowledge, skills and abilities; and
  • Prepare to meet employers by discussing voluntary self-disclosure. You can use these tips to be confident when talking to potential employers.

Again, contact your EN or state VR agency if you have questions about the Virtual Job Fair.  If you're not sure if you have or are using your Ticket, or if you need help finding an EN or state VR agency, call the Ticket to Work Help Line at 1-866-968-7842 (V) or 1-866-833-2967 (TTY).
