The Rehabilitation Act of 1973

The Rehabilitation Act bans discrimination against individuals with disabilities in programs receiving money from the government. This includes:

  • Programs that receive federal financial assistance (grants)
  • Business that do work with the government (federal contractors)
  • Government agencies

Each section of the Act provides different protection from discrimination for individuals with disabilities.

The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in programs that receive money from the government.

This includes programs that receive federal financial assistance, or grants, and businesses that do work with the government, which are also known as federal contractors.

The Rehabilitation Act also applies to government agencies.
