Changes to Section 503

In March 2014, changes were made to Section 503 to strengthen the Act and provide more opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

The changes require businesses that do work with the government to:

  • Recruit, employ, train and promote qualified individuals with disabilities
  • Invite candidates to self-identify as an individual with a disability

The changes also include a revised definition of disability to match the definition in the Americans with Disabilities Act.
