The 2014 changes to the regulations implementing Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 set a national utilization goal of 7% for employment of individuals with disabilities. Thus, many federal contractors are increasing their efforts to recruit and hire qualified candidates with disabilities. Recently, the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) posted a new tool designed to help contractors assess their compliance with the affirmative action program (AAP) requirements of Section 503. OFCCP has also posted a video for educating employees with disabilities about the importance of self-identifying as a person with a disability.
